Corey
Johnson is a dynamic artist whose skills as a trumpet player,
singer, songwriter, and producer show that he is definitely
inspired in his musical performance. Originally form Cleveland,
his parents encouraged him to pursue the trumpet as a primary
instrument and take private lessons. Soon he was playing
in school bands, citywide youth orchestras, marching bands,
and various jazz ensembles. He was also a member of a brass
quintet and the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony established
by the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Music. Corey
continued to play in The Ohio State University Wind Ensemble
and Jazz Ensemble while simultaneously establishing, performing
and composing for many freelance bands. He has traveled
the country performing and playing for major worship conferences
such as the B.E.T Gospel. In 2006 he was featured in the
Midwest Urban Music Conference for independent artists
and is constantly performing at various musical venues.
Corey has developed his music production, composition and
training techniques through working with singers and musicians
as a performer and consultant.
Through "Johnson's Vision Productions" he has released "Music
Room" a 14 song collection spanning a stylistic range through gospel, R&B,
Jazz, Hi-Hop and Neo-Soul. In 2002 he released 2 "maxi-singles' as a prelude
to "Music Room." Corey has produced, arranged and played synth, trumpet
and background vocals on the songs for the album "Walk the Light" by
independent artist Leslie Cretcher. He is also a member of the Columbus Music
Academy Jazz Band.
