The
Saxophone Quartet was founded in the summer of 2005
by Wes Miller and is comprised entirely of his private
students. The group's instrumentation consists of
soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone
and baritone
saxophone. With a wide-ranging repertoire including
Bach, Gershwin, Mozart, Debussy, Lennie Niehaus, to
name a few, the group wows its audiences with many
musical
styles from swing and pop, to classical and jazz.
As
is the case with the Jazz Ensemble, the focus
of this group is to provide students with a "real
world" performance
experience. Students must be at the advanced level
in order to be considered. This group is made up of
the same voicing as a string quartet... only with saxophones.
It is an excellent outlet for those students wishing
to gain experience in ensemble and group play.
Wes
still coaches the group today and they perform at many
areas around the city including the Gallery Hop and
private functions- weddings and receptions, garden
parties, birthdays. Call to inquire about available
dates!! |
